  • Taking tests with and without security
    It is possible to take a test within one test moment both with and without security via external tools (Safe Exam Browser, Proctorio and Schoolyear). Security is switched on at the test moment. This extension makes the questions easier to find and the test matrix based on topics and/or chapters easier to compile.

    For open questions, it is now possible to assign a negative score to the criteria. This can be interesting for writing tests where deduction points apply for spelling mistakes. The total score of a question can never be negative, but will be rounded to 0 points.

  • Answer model change for part of composite question
    An answer model adjustment can be made for one or more interactions of a composite question. This eliminates the need to approve or withdraw all answers for the entire question, but allows an answer model adjustment for a sub-question (interaction).

This icon will only be shown when the availability of Readspeaker is restricted to users of accessibility profiles.

  • Review moments can now also be set with ‘Remaining time is calculated from’
    As with a test moment, review moments can be set with ‘Remaining time is calculated from’ after which you can choose from the start of the review moment or from the start of the individual review.

  • Availability of additional languages
    In the settings, the Dutch and English languages could be chosen and/or set. We recently added the French and German languages. As a result, the default language can also be set to 1 of these 4 languages.

    Please note! If you are using ReadSpeaker in the sampling environment, this extra language needs to be added via ReadSpeaker. To do so, contact ReadSpeaker.

  • Quickly switch between multiple accounts in management and recipient environments
    User accounts from the management and purchase environments can be linked to each other so that a button in both environments can be used to quickly switch between them. This is useful for users who frequently need to work in both environments.

    An administrator can specify in the General settings (section ‘Linking user accounts’) how the accounts are linked.

    Automatic: this method uses RemindoConnect in the background to determine whether the environments use the same SSO and links users in the same way as they are linked via the SSO.

    Manual: this method selects the environments between which to switch. This requires manually adding the same unique value in the same user's accounts in the code/characteristic field. As soon as a linked account (which can also be in the same environment but a different role), the button to switch environments will appear at the top of the menu.

If you have multiple accounts within an environment, e.g. as Supervisor and Corrector, you can also easily switch between them via this button.

  • When composing a question, checks regarding common mistakes have been added. These notifications are displayed when the question is edited. They include warnings and informative notifications about:
    • a composite question where one of the interactions results in a negative score;
    • an unusual guess score at greater than 1/3 or 1/2 of the maximum points;
    • the longest answer is the correct answer in a multiple-choice question;
    • when a choice or matching/matrix question allows multiple answers, but no negative scores are used for the wrong answers.
  • Applying the council score is done more accurately.
  • When creating an input field, an additional message has been added about using this question type:'An answer to this question type should always be short. If an answer consists of several words, it is better to use an open-ended question'.
  • If a PDF of the (selected) questions is created via ‘Show all’, it now includes feedback on the question and any comments on the latest version of the question.
  • In the Settings under Terminologies, the term ‘Questions’ can now be translated into ‘Questions’.

Player

  • In the standard settings for test moments, there is a setting at the bottom regarding showing inactive students. This setting was called ‘Add inactive candidates’ and has been renamed ‘Show inactive candidates for test moments’. This description better describes what the institution does, namely whether or not it can add and show inactive candidates in the candidate list of a test moment.
  • In the Activity Overview, for a test moment that uses Schoolyear, the button to the Schoolyear Dashboard is now also shown.
  • It is now possible to go from the question information directly to the question in the administration environment (provided the user has the correct rights). In addition, while editing a test moment or via Training and test matrices, it is also possible to open the test matrix directly in the management environment.
  • If Schoolyear is used during a test, the text ‘Go back’ of the button at the top of the screen has been changed to ‘Exit’, because the button actually exits the test . Highlights


  • A new question type is available, namely the SOWISO question type. If you are already using SOWISO, you can let us link it to Remindo. To do so, please send an e-mail to support@paragin.com

    The SOWISO questions are in their own question bank, which you can recognise by the SOWISO logo after the name.

    This question bank works largely in the same way as the other question banks in Remindo. The exception is that no new questions can be created in this question bank because from the SOWISO environment, the questions are synchronised to Remindo.
    In addition, the settings of the questions cannot be modified and if changes need to be made to the question, the question will have to be modified in SOWISO so that it can then be resynchronised to Remindo.

    Of course, these questions can be added to test matrices in the usual way and used this way in test takings.

  • In Remindo, the English translation of the term ‘test matrix’ was always ‘recipe’. Internationally, the term ‘blueprint’ is a better translation. We therefore now implement this translation by default in all environments. If you still want to continue to use ‘recipe’, a (lead) administrator can change this via the Terminologies option in the admin or decline.

  • Preparations have been made to make Remindo available in even more languages. Currently, only Dutch and English are available, but this will change soon.

  • Via the API, test templates can now also be archived.

Player

  • An alert is shown in the schedule for a test moment if inactive candidates or supervisors are associated with it.

General

Since Release 23.6 it is possible, with the linking of an external engine, to influence the progress of a test and take adaptive tests. For example, during the test administration, after each question the external adaptive engine decides what the most appropriate next question is, based on the candidate's score on the previous question. Prerequisites for this are that the item bank is calibrated and an adaptive engine is available in combination with a configuration file.

During the Examencongres 2024 of the Dutch Association for Exams, Paragin and Cito will present this way of testing. The Examencongres will take place on Thursday March 14 in Druten, more information about this interesting congress can be found on the website of the NVE.

  • As of this Release, by popular demand, it is now possible to use the BOYD security software Schoolyear at inspection times. When planning a new assessment moment, this option is available at the bottom of the page. Taking

  • In case of a test with feedback items, where it is set that these feedback items should not be shown to the candidate (feedback report), but the answered questions should be shown, the button to the result page was not shown after finishing the test. This button is now available.

  • When a candidate received a notification (via e-mail and/or in the widget) about the availability of a new test moment, the text suggested that the test could be taken today. We have made this text clearer, by including the specific date and time of the test moment in this notification.

Results

  • An open worksheet question is now also included in a paper test, so that this question can be checked via a correction round. The procedure in terms of checking and scoring is the same as for a regular open question.

Correction rounds and answer model adjustments

  • In the last Release of last year (23.6) we changed the word 'Answer model' to 'Elaboration of the answer' in the administration environment. Management

  • When an import of candidates is done, where the password of the candidate is changed, a candidate who happens to be active at that moment will always be logged out at the next action. For this reason, we have added an additional warning text when selecting the appropriate columns.

Infrastructure

  • In this Release, we have made a number of optimizations in the operation of auto-scaling: through auto-scaling, Remindo scales in capacity even better with very busy peak times, so that there is always enough capacity regardless of the number of candidates.

  • We also made a number of improvements to the OTAP street for Remindo: until now, the load-balancers in our infrastructure were the only component shared by the entire infrastructure. As of this release on Production, these components have been further split, so that in our infrastructure there is no longer any overlap or infrastructure interconnection between the Intern, Preview, Staging and Production environments.

  • Processing background processes: a new mechanism for processing lengthy background processes is introduced with this Release. The previous workflow did not grow with our needs and requirements, and so it was chosen to replace it in its entirety based on so-called Redis Streams. This offers us more stability and flexibility when developing new features and provides a very robust improvement in these processes into the future.

Maintenance

  • The SimpleSAML software component, responsible for the SAML SSO links, within Remindo, has had a 'major' update to version 2 in 2023. The teething problems have since been removed from this, making this a stable release, reason for us to upgrade to this new version. This puts us fully back in line with the update schedule of this package.

  • Remindo has been further optimized in the infrastructure to improve performance for customers with very large (> 1 million purchases per year) numbers of candidates/results.

We are planning 6 smaller releases for the coming year, with relatively smaller amounts of customization per release. Each release will be available on Preview 2 weeks before the Release to be viewed and tried out.
